Hello! I'm Alex, an early 30-something who resides in downtown LA with my husband, pup, and portly cat. I work in TV and Film, oscillating between different departments as I weave a web of a career and try to figure out how to be a better person. As a collector of beautiful things I'd like to take this opportunity to share the little things in life that make me smile...

it's the little things that make me smile: today it's jacarandas in bloom and other signs of spring

I've never lived anywhere where there are true seasons.  Yet spring is still my favorite.  And it's not like I've ever had to suffer through months and months of grey skies and freezing temperatures.  Yet in Florida, and again now in LA, there are tell tale signs that 'spring' has arrived.  And even though we've already had summer like heat, the signs of spring remain.  In Florida it was the bright green waxy new leaves that covered the oak trees in my neighborhood.  And it was the Jacarandas in bloom.  The Jacarandas in LA are now in full bloom and they remind me of my childhood. The big bursts of purple that have recently shown up on almost every street make me smile as I reminisce about growing up and take pleasure in my favorite season, spring.

P.S. I recently discovered the perfect guide to identifying trees of North America.
